Hallows Eve map mechanics
Hallows Eve is not a standard Der Riese clone. Key differences from The Giant:
Trick-or-treat perk doors
Instead of buying Juggernog directly, some perk alcoves roll random treats — free perks, bonus points, or traps. PHD Crashout can appear as a treat, making Hallows Eve one of the few reliable ways to test the perk before hunting it on Definitely Origins or One Window.
RNG treats reward players who understand baseline perk priority from the perks tier list. Even if you roll a weak treat early, Speed Cola and Double Tap remain shop purchases on later doors.
Pumpkin Pack-a-Punch unlock
Power the map by shooting seven colored pumpkins rather than linking teleporters or restoring lighthouse sonar. After the seventh pumpkin, Pack-a-Punch opens for the standard 4,500 point upgrade — identical economy to other maps once the machine is active.
Pumpkin hunting teaches map awareness fast. Run the route solo on a VIP server with set_map HallowsEve before attempting the Halloween Spotlight Rune quest, which requires trading a Pack-a-Punched gun to the pumpkin merchant.
Pumpkin merchant and Rune tier
The merchant NPC accepts one Pack-a-Punched weapon per account for Spotlight Rune completion. Plan your economy:
- Round 1–4: knife kills for bonus points (see training guide).
- Round 5–8: buy Juggernog and a wall gun.
- Round 9+: open pumpkin routes, Pack-a-Punch, return to merchant.
Co-op squads can designate one player as the “trade runner” while others hold aggro — communication matters more here than on One Window training maps.
Halloween decor on other maps
Crash and Burn added themed visual layers to certain maps without rewriting win conditions. Expect orange lighting, props, and ambient audio — not new Easter eggs. Gameplay on Lighthouse still ends with the 60,000 point boat escape; Undead Nocturn keeps its unique quest requirements.
Decor serves two purposes: atmosphere for returning players and UV Key quest landmarks that remain readable under Halloween lighting. If a wall symbol looks different, re-scan with the UV attachment from the Spotlight safe room.
Economy and loadout tips
Hallows Eve rounds scale like standard survival maps. Meta weapons from the weapons tier list — Saiga-12, PTRS-41, Walther P99 — still dominate mid-game. Wonder weapons from the box (Raygun, Wunderwaffe DG-2) accelerate merchant trades if you hit the box early.
Post–Crash and Burn, ammo attachments purchased with Emeralds or coins modify wall buys before you enter Hallows Eve. Customize in the lobby, not mid-quest.

Private servers vs public matchmaking

Public matchmaking during Halloween returns can mean longer queue times but better co-op for merchant trades. Solo players should still finish the Rune tier; the Key tier is inherently solo because safe codes are account-unique.
