The Mule Kick Easter egg on The Giant permanently unlocks the third weapon slot without paying 4,000 points at the perk machine — or rewards early access to Mule Kick depending on server rules. The quest is nicknamed Hide and Seek because you hunt interactable dolls hidden after each teleporter activation. This is the shortest full Easter egg in Michael’s Zombies and the best introduction to multi-step quests before Lighthouse escape or Definitely Origins.

Requirements before starting

  • Turn on power and link teleporters — same steps as Pack-a-Punch on The Giant.
  • Bank at least 8,000–10,000 points for doors, box spins, and the furnace step.
  • Acquire the Friend equipment (monkey bomb analog) from the Mystery Box or wall chalk — required for the furnace puzzle. VIP players can give_equipment me Friend via admin commands.
  • Recommended perks: Juggernog, Speed Cola, Double Tap. Quick Revive helps solo players.

Step 1 — Activate Hide and Seek

Interact with the broken perk machine near the Laboratory teleporter. A audio cue and chat message confirm Hide and Seek started. Three dolls spawn in fixed locations that change each game — search Factory, Courtyard, and the upper catwalks.

Step 2 — Collect the dolls

After each teleporter ride, a glowing doll appears somewhere on the map. You must interact with it before the next teleporter cooldown ends. Miss one and the quest resets — play conservative rounds while searching.

Common spawn hints:

  • Factory window ledge overlooking the courtyard
  • Courtyard crate stack near Juggernog
  • Laboratory catwalk above the Pack-a-Punch door

Use training routes between searches so zombies stay grouped away from interact points.

Step 3 — Furnace and Friend

Once all dolls are collected, the furnace in the Factory wing ignites. Throw the Friend equipment into the furnace chamber when the door is open. The Friend must land inside the marked boundary — weak throws fail silently.

If you lack Friend equipment, spin the Mystery Box or check the console IDs for spawn commands on private servers.

Step 4 — Final teleporter sequence

Ride the Laboratory teleporter during the furnace burn phase. You will teleport to a short holdout room. Survive roughly 30 seconds, then interact with the Mule Kick prototype at the center. Returning to the main map spawns Mule Kick permanently at the perk machine location.

Rewards and co-op notes

Completing the egg grants Mule Kick for the lobby and teaches teleporter-furnace timing used in harder content. In co-op, only the interacting player needs dolls collected — but all players benefit from the perk machine unlock.

You can complete Mule Kick and Pack-a-Punch in one run if points are managed: prioritize power and teleporters by round 8, dolls by round 12, furnace by round 15.

Troubleshooting

  • Quest reset — missed doll timer; restart Hide and Seek at the broken machine.
  • Friend did not register — stand closer to the furnace door and aim for the center grate.
  • Machine still locked — ensure power remains on; flipping power off mid-quest bugs interactables until round restart.

Speedrun and co-op coordination

Experienced groups finish the egg between rounds 14 and 18 by splitting roles: one player rides teleporters while two others sweep doll locations announced in voice chat. Mark doll spawns on your first attempt so repeat runs are faster. If you already bought Mule Kick from the machine, the Easter egg still awards completion credit and teaches the route for other accounts in the lobby.

Solo speedrunners should delay starting Hide and Seek until round 10 when point income peaks — you need buffer cash for box spins if Friend refuses to appear. Pair this route with the weapons tier list so you recognize when a box weapon is worth keeping versus rebuying wall ammo.

Why this egg matters long-term

Mule Kick frees a weapon slot for wonder weapons during Lighthouse escape and explosive loadouts on Definitely Origins. Three-gun setups also accelerate Halloween Rune and Key farming when each map demands different wall buys. Treat The Giant Mule Kick as mandatory progression, not optional fluff.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Do I still need 4,000 points for Mule Kick after the Easter egg?

No. Completing the egg unlocks the machine or grants the perk directly — you save the standard purchase cost.

What is the Friend equipment?

A throwable distraction bomb (monkey bomb analog). It is mandatory for the furnace step.

Can solo players finish this Easter egg?

Yes. Quick Revive and conservative training make solo completion reliable by round 18–20.

Does the egg work in public lobbies?

Yes, but coordinate teleporter rides in co-op so one player does not cancel doll timers.
