How trick-or-treat doors work

Interact with any glowing perk door on Hallows Eve after power is on. Each knock costs 500 points — the same price tier as mid-round door buys on The Giant. One player pays; the result applies to the knocker only unless noted as team-wide.

The door animation plays, then the game rolls one of three buckets:

Treats are the reason most squads open doors early round before the horde compresses spawn lanes:

Completing the Halloween Rune and Key quest adds a seasonal trick-or-treat perk boost — increased rare perk weight for the rest of the event window. Treat rolls feel noticeably better during Halloween Spotlight weeks.

Tricks punish greedy door spam without ending the run outright:

Hallows Eve 2024 expansion areas

The Hallows Eve 2024 patch expanded the map beyond the original graveyard loop:

• Church interior — new training lane with tight pew sightlines and a perk door on the upper gallery
• Catacombs — underground tunnel connecting church to mausoleum; additional trick-or-treat doors with higher trick rate
• Classic weapon wall buys — every core Black Ops Zombies wall buy added along the expansion route (M1911, Olympia, MP5, AK-74u, and more)

PHD Crashout in area 3 — 25 souls

The reliable non-RNG path to PHD Crashout sits in area 3 (cemetery exterior / mausoleum approach):

1. Unlock power and open the route to area 3
2. Locate the soul-powered PHD machine near the cemetery gate
3. Feed 25 souls by killing zombies within the machine’s capture radius
4. Purchase PHD once the soul meter fills — standard perk pricing applies after activation

This route is Fandom-verified and consistent across v2.1.0 reruns. Do not confuse it with fake PHD machines from trick rolls — decoys lack the soul funnel UI and disappear after one failed purchase attempt.

If soul farming is slow, alternate between area 3 machine and trick-or-treat doors for PHD RNG. Speed Cola and Juggernog remain higher priority on first two perk slots before gambling on PHD.

Trick-or-treat strategy for 2026

1. Knock early rounds (3–8) — treat value peaks when bonus points and free perks accelerate power-ups
2. Budget 1,500–2,000 points per door cluster — assume one trick per three knocks
3. Save one door for post-Rune boost — after Halloween Rune and Key completion, roll once with boosted odds

Co-op squads should call out fake PHD machines immediately. Trick teleports split teams — regroup at church bell or catacombs exit before the next treat wave.
